Self referral:
For all accident related injuries you can be seen under ACC without a doctor or specialist referral. Appointments are made on the same day where possible. There is a co-payment charged for ACC visits.
For non-accidental conditions you are able to be seen as a private patient. Appointments are made on the same day or within 1-2 days. A private fee is charged for visits.
Referrals:
If you have a non-accident condition and you have a referral from a health professional, you may be seen as a public out-patient. Appointments for this service have a two week or more wait, unless the doctor, surgeon or other health professional indicates you need to be seen urgently. There is no charge when seen with a public out-patient referral.
